Asio for generic usb device12/31/2023 ![]() ![]() The first steps involve plugging in the device, waiting for Windows to finish loading its generic USB drivers, and installing Propagamma's ASIO driver - a simple enough process consisting of clicking 'yes' a few times. Installation on Windows XP is currently not quite as straightforward as it could be. All this comes in a lightweight, USB-powered package little larger than a Cornish pasty, with eight phono sockets in a neat row down one side, and LED activity indicators visible through the semi-transparent casing. OK, so it may not boast 24-bit converters, but Audiotrak have provided ASIO 2 drivers courtesy of German USB-meisters Propagamma, which alone cost 60 Euros in their commercial form. Priced at £100, it comes with four analogue ins and outs, plus a combined headphone socket and optical digital output. Now Audiotrak, the 'consumer' division of ESI, have come up with another, in the form of the Maya 44 USB, which joins the surround sound-orientated Maya EX and Maya EX7 in their growing USB range. If you've been looking for something to get audio in and out of a laptop computer, or you don't fancy messing about with PCI cards, you can't have helped noticing that the cheaper end of the market is dominated by USB devices, many of which offer tempting specifications for not much money. Preferably in english or german language.Laptop users on a budget can't help but be tempted by the Audiotrak Maya 44 USB's promise of four-channel analogue I/O, low-latency ASIO drivers and multi-client support for under £100. So I must have done something wrong, right?Īlso: Can everyone recommend a good tutorial about how to set up Wavelab 11? It’s totally beyond my imagination that every single Audio Editor on the market exept Wavelab does support a direct audio device selection. So is there a way to enable the regular PC audio devices in Wavelab again? I really don’t want to use ASIO any more when working with wavelab. ![]() Jez, I never expected Steinberg software becoming such a pain in the ass. Maybe it’s just me being dumb and inexperienced but: could it be?īecause after changing the ASIO driver setting one or two times or switching between Yamaha and generic either the driver or Wavelab decides to chrash, resulting in all audio device disappearing The generic ASIO driver seems to be a bit bugged as well. I tried giving it exclusive acces as being an ASIO host, but as soon as I check the relating box in the generic ASIO settings, my UR22 interface disappears from the I/O settings, which is pointless since it’s needed as output device. I get no sound.Īlso, I’d like Wavelab being able to share it’s audio device.Ĭurrently, as soon as I tab out or switch the window while Wavelab is playing music, it immideately stops playing or gets muted, which is pretty annoying. Practically it doesn’t work at all, at least for the input devices. THERE I may chose between the above mentioned stuff. The only workaround to add other devices than UR22 seems to be like choosing the generic Low Latency ASIO driver and adding some new Buses. While the Yamaha Steinberg Driver ASIO doesn’t seem to accept any other i/o devices than the UR22, which is somhow plausible, Or How about selecting my USB-Mic or virtual devices like stereomix as direct input devices? How about WASAPI, Direct sound or Realtek audio as output device? When going to Preferences/audio connection the only available audio devices areĪnd that’s it. ![]() Is there a way of simply using the PC audio devices or do I always need to go for the detour via ASIO? I’ve got some serious issues concerning Wavelab and its supported audio devices. ![]()
